IMFDF Fashion Festival
Last month I was privileged to be a vendor at the IMFDF Fashion Show here in Toronto, that took place at the Daniels Spectrum Centre on August 13th.
This event featured a mix of fashion shows, workshops, shopping bazaar, guest speakers, and contests. But one of the biggest highlights of the show was the fabulous fashionista top bloggers that were here from abroad, including Saman Munir, Habiba Da Silva, Saima Khan, and Nour Kaiss Soliman, to name a few.
The fashion shows happened throughout the day, featuring various local and international designers. Each designer had their own flow and style, and had fashion pieces that really spoke. There was a fusion of modest meets fashion, and had everything from leather pants, to flowing capes, to lengha’s. The stunning models did an amazing job and were absolutely posh, I thought I was in Milan! Some of the designers included HK Star Creations, Darzah, Abaci, Eman Idil, Juwyriya, Afflatus Hijabs, CMB by Hakeemah, Modest Ave, and Sukiz Boutique.
In addition to fashion, makeup, and clothing, the place was filled with many inspiring and passionate female entrepreneurs and philanthropists, and that honestly filled my heart. There were workshops centered around mental health and well-being, branding yourself, helping youth around the world, self defense, ethical fashion, and more. There was a common theme of women empowerment, and as a Muslim woman, seeing a lot of young women bloom into such passionate and motivating women, made me extremely proud. They spoke about issues such as creating clothing to inspire and help women, to make them feel comfortable, to empower and reach out to the youth, all very relevant topics we are faced with.
A huge thank you to IMFDF for putting on such an amazing event. I’m truly honored to have had the opportunity to experience it. I honestly felt so proud to be a part of such an inspiring event, not to mention how smoothly and polished the whole day was. Big koodos to the event staff, the volunteers, the planners, the creators, and the masterminds behind the entire event, because it was absolutely fabulous. It keeps growing every year, and cannot wait to be a part of it next year. Hope to see you all there!
