So I have to share with you one of the coolest things I’ve done this year.
While I was in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba, my husband and I decided to try the catamaran/dolphinarium excursion… If there’s one thing you have to try while you’re there – it’s this, it was so special!
Ok ok ok… Let me start from the beginning. First of all, the bus picks you up at your resort and takes you to the local marina. There you get on board a beautiful catamaran, and set sail into the waters. Did I mention it’s all you can drink all day?..... Your first stop is snorkeling by a coral reef, where they provide you with all of your snorkeling gear. After that they sail onto the next stop, my personal fav, the Dolphinarium. Here you get an amazing show by beautiful dolphins. These guys can Mambo better than me! I mean, I always knew they were spectacular animals, but this show proved it even more.
After the show you get the chance to interact with the other dolphins in the facility. Ours, Valentina, was a rescue found from a shark attack. I got to see and touch the giant scars on her back, but she is safe and healed now, and even has a baby boy, Isaac. But the absolute best moment was when she gave me kisses on my cheek. I fell in love, and it was truly an incredible experience.
Next we head into the restaurant for a lobster (or chicken if you choose) served lunch that was fabulous! Once we all loaded back onto the catamaran, the last stop was another area for snorkeling, where you get to see exotic fish and coral reef. After that it’s smooth sailing and great music until you get back to the marina. The next time you’re in Cuba I would definitely recommend you to try it, it was a fantastic experience.
